You could call Bear Concerts, owned and operated by Steve Reischman, a concert and special events promotion company. But Bear Concerts is more than a company; it's a collaboration. A collaboration with the artists we feature—Willie Nelson and Smokey Robinson, the Gipsy Kings and Los Lobos, the Decemberists and Pink Martini. A collaboration with the communities we support—the majority of our productions are structured to benefit the fund-raising efforts of non-profit groups (Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa, CA; Oregon Food Bank), community organizations and government agencies. A collaboration with the audiences we entertain.

It is a model that has helped the venues we work with flourish, due in no small part to their natural advantages. At the Oregon Zoo and Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo, we've learned that even animals appreciate our aesthetic sensibilities. And with other outdoor concert series such as Music on the Halfshell, set on the banks of the Umpqua River in southern Oregon, we have come to appreciate the importance of the whole experience—artist, audience, environment.

At Bear Concerts, we love music more than we love business. Most of our staff has spent time in front of the audience in a variety of bands—some still do—and it is this passion that fuels our work. And with more than a quarter century of experience running the show, we have earned a solid reputation for quality, professionalism, integrity and leadership. Since 1980, Steve Reischman has helped present the work of musicians who reflect his diverse and discriminating taste in music, from rock and pop, to blues and jazz, to western swing and world beat.
